The Origins of Progressive Automations
As our oldest sister company, the birth of Progressive Automations in 2008 was where it all started. During this time, the market for electric linear actuators was thriving, but it still had a sizable gap. Most companies had a high minimum order quantity requirement for electric actuators, and no one was willing to help give technical advice on how to use, operate, or choose electric actuators for an application. Help and technical expertise were present for large manufacturers while small businesses and single orders did not have this type of assistance.

Using Actuators in Lifting Columns and Desk Frames
Since linear actuators have the versatility to work in many different applications, we thought about how our actuators could be used to promote proper posture and ergonomics. Our idea was to use the technology we had and integrate them into lifting columns and desk frames that could adjust the height of a workstation. These lifting columns and desk frames were able to accomplish the goal we designed them for, however, our customers had to go out to buy tabletops and desk accessories separately to complete their setup. We thought we could improve this process to further enhance the standing desk experience of our customers by offering more of an end-product to consumers.
Bringing Progressive Desk to Life
In 2018, we decided to introduce Progressive Desk as the sister company of Progressive Automations to specialize in full standing desks and ergonomic workspace accessories. By sharing the same actuator technology in our standing desks, our desk frames and control systems offered a solid foundation as the base for building up to our vision of offering full desks. As a one-stop shop, offering full standing desks with all the essentials and accessories ensures Progressive Desk customers benefit from:

Today, we have a large variety of tabletops and desk accessories, and we continue to gradually release newer designs, colors, and more customizable options. Now that Matter is available for smart homes and Internet of things devices, we want to integrate Matter protocol as a control option for all our products from the Progressive family. We are also looking into adding our own app and software as control options for our actuators, standing desks, and adjustable beds to ensure convenient user control and a better customer experience in the future.
